Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of PearlCV (“we” or “us”). They govern your use of the PearlCV app on iPhone, iPad and Mac. By using PearlCV, you agree to them and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use PearlCV.

What PearlCV is

PearlCV is an app for writing CVs. You keep a profile of your experience and make CVs from it with templates. Your profile and CVs are stored on your devices and, if you use iCloud, synced through your own iCloud account.

Your content

Everything you add to PearlCV is yours. We do not receive it and claim no rights to it. You are responsible for what you keep and share, including making sure you have the right to keep and share photos, files and information about other people.

What your CVs say is yours to stand behind. PearlCV lays out what you write and offers hints; it does not check that it is true or right for a particular job.

Keep your own copy

Your profile and CVs live on your devices and in your iCloud account, which we do not control. Devices can be lost and accounts can change, so keep backups of anything that matters, using your device’s backups and the PDFs you export. We cannot recover them for you.

Acceptable use

Do not use PearlCV to break the law, to infringe anyone’s rights, or to monitor or track another person without their knowledge. Do not reverse engineer, decompile or try to extract the app’s source code, except where the law allows this despite this restriction.

PearlCV’s software and name

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the PearlCV app for your own use, under these terms and the rules of the App Store. PearlCV’s software, design, name and logo belong to us or our licensors.

Purchases

PearlCV is free to use. The free plan includes one profile, one CV and the Pearl template, whose designed PDF you can export without limits. PearlCV Pro adds every other template, more profiles and CVs, Applications, and hiring systems: the check of how applicant tracking systems read your PDF, what to fix, and an ATS-safe copy of your CV when it needs one. You can use every template for free before unlocking Pro; Pro is needed to export a Pro template’s designed PDF.

PearlCV Pro is offered in two ways, and both include templates and features we add to Pro later.

Weekly is an auto-renewing subscription. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. It renews every week at the price shown when you subscribed unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current week, and your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the week ends. You can manage or cancel it at any time in your Apple Account’s subscription settings, or from Settings in PearlCV; cancelling stops the next renewal, and Pro continues until the end of the week you paid for. If a free trial is offered, any unused part of it ends when you buy a subscription.

Lifetime is a one-time purchase that does not renew. It includes Pro for as long as PearlCV is offered, on every device signed in to the Apple Account that bought it, and for members of its Family Sharing group.

If Pro ends, nothing you made is locked or removed: your profiles, CVs and applications stay yours to read, edit and export in Pearl.

Anything you buy in PearlCV is sold and billed by the App Store under Apple’s terms. Refunds are handled by Apple under its rules, subject to any rights you have under applicable law.

Changes to PearlCV

We may improve, change or remove features, or stop offering PearlCV, at any time. Because your profile and CVs are stored on your devices and in your iCloud, they stay yours, and you can export your CVs, whatever we decide.

Disclaimer of warranties

To the extent permitted by law, PearlCV is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. Hints, page fitting and the reading-order check help you; they do not guarantee how any employer or hiring system will treat your CV.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, content or profits, arising from or related to PearlCV or these terms. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims related to PearlCV is limited to the amount you paid us for PearlCV in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or under mandatory consumer protection law. If you live in the European Union or another country with such laws, you keep every right those laws give you.

Apple

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the app, its content, its maintenance and support, and any claims about it, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection claims, and claims that it infringes someone’s intellectual property. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to meet an applicable warranty, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; to the extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app. You may use the app only on Apple devices you own or control, as Apple’s Usage Rules permit. You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as supporting terrorism, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When a change matters, we will say so on this page and update the date above before it takes effect. If you keep using PearlCV after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.

General

These terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any terms the App Store shows you at purchase, are the whole agreement between you and us about PearlCV. If any part of them is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a right, we have not given it up.
